Twilight House

Twilight House is a statement in restraint and drama. Sited on a gentle ridge in Calabasas, the structure is oriented precisely to capture the full arc of the setting sun across its west-facing glazing — a wall of glass that dissolves the boundary between interior warmth and the darkening California sky.

The plan unfolds in a single elongated volume, its concrete-and-steel frame clad in a rain-screen of charred cedar. Inside, a continuous great room moves from kitchen through dining to living without interruption, anchored by a central hearth of honed basalt. Bedrooms retreat to the quieter east wing, sheltered from the drama outside.

The landscape was designed in parallel — native grasses and drought-tolerant plantings root the home to its site without competing with the architecture.
